Alternative Education Programmes

Utopia offer personalised alternative provision for young people aged 13 -16 to aid progression and enhance the school curriculum.

Maths and English

Our experienced teachers provide intensive support in working toward functional skills and GCSE qualifications by working in partnerships with English and Maths departments in schools. They have experience in teaching across various exam boards and ensure that syllabus requirements are met in conjunction with the appropriate specifications.

Our one-to-one English and Maths provision supports KS4 students by:

addressing skills gaps and building confidence
developing essential skills in both subjects
preparing them for GCSE qualifications, through sessions that are tailored towards their individual needs

Sports and Active Leisure

The BTEC Level 1 course in Sport and Active Leisure is designed to equip students with the understanding and practical skills to progress to the next stage of their educational journey.

This course covers the fundamentals of sports, whereby students learn key concepts about the body and how it responds to exercise, teamwork, healthy lifestyles and leadership skills.

Studying this qualification will help students:
achieve a nationally recognised Level 1 vocationally-related qualification
develop essential life skills such as confidence, teamwork, resilience and leadership
progress to related vocational qualifications, apprenticeships or employment within the Sports and Active Leisure industry

Creative Media Production

The Pearson BTEC Level 1 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Creative Media Production is a qualification within a suite of BTECs in the Engineering sector. It is broadly equivalent in size to one GCSE.

This qualification provides an engaging and relevant introduction to the world of Creative Media. Students undertake a range of units including animation, audio and video production, digital video editing and digital photography.

Studying this qualification will help students:
achieve a nationally recognised Level 1 vocationally-related qualification
develop skills to support GCSE English such as Creative Writing and Critical Analysis Technique
progress to related vocational qualifications, apprenticeships or employment within the media

Childcare

The Pearson BTEC Level 1/2 Award in Children’s Play, Learning and Development, gives students the opportunity to engage in learning which is relevant to the childcare sector and provides opportunities to develop a range of techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

Studying this qualification will help students:
achieve a nationally recognised Level 1/2 vocationally qualification
progress to related post-16 programmes and employment
gain practical experience in working with infants and children

Personal and Social Development
